I really like the version of the future where Gabriel goes nuclear because of his son’s death.
It gives his character arc such a meaningful conclusion, given his own mommy/daddy issues and his journey to that point. Also, his son’s name was Noah, as in Noah Bennet, which means he and Noah must have reached some kind of closure.
He wanted to be Noah’s boyfriend.
